At the July 14th organizational meeting of the campaign committee for the November 2009 election to increase the Christian County Library District's levy to twenty-five cents, the group elected a president, started learning about how to set up a campaign committee and chose a name.
The campaign committee will be known as LIFE - Library Improvements for Everyone. Libraries serve people of all ages, birth to death. Libraries serve people of all status and viewpoints - political, religious, educational, health, economic, race, gender, place of residence within the district, interests, passions, and ambitions. Libraries serve people where ever they are in LIFE. The name Library Improvements for Everyone emphasizes the fact that a large central library and east and west branches are planned to serve everyone in the county better than the current single thirty-seven year old 10,000 sf facility. This plan resulted from six years of public opinion polls, focus groups, panel discussions and consultants.
Kerri Bruce was elected President of the LIFE Committee. Other volunteer positions will be announced as they are filled.
Anyone interested in Christian County having the quality of library facilities, materials and services available to residents of most county library districts of similar size is invited to attend and participate.
Those who would like to contribute financially to the campaign costs may do so after the organizational papers are filed and approved with the Missouri Ethics Committee.
